First Change Yourself

The grass is never greener
Your waters are below.
How much do you really want to change?
What self do you know?

Your obstacles aren’t hereabout
Because the world is bad,
They’re here to teach you how to grow,
To be your launching pad.

That’s their purpose, though it seems
Quite different sometimes,
They seem to lie in wait
As if to punish you for crimes.

And when at first you see them
You’re astonished by their size
How in Hell did that get here,
Can I believe my eyes?

And running makes it worse because
You feel like you’ve escaped,
Then other same-faced obstacles
Appear in different shapes.

But stop with all your finger pointing
Though that may seem strange,
This obstacle is yours alone,
Do you really want to change?
